IoT TechConnect ad 300x300Most technology experts contend that the Internet of Things, more commonly called IoT, has become THE trend for the 21st century. On April 4 at the Troy Marriott a day-long conference will not only explain, but also celebrate all things IoT in Michigan.

IoT TechConnect, “A Survival Guide to the Internet Of Things,” is co-produced by MITechNews.Com and CloudTech1.Com. It will feature Michigan companies, experts, and products in the rapidly growing IoT segment. Content tracks focus on Autonomous and Connected Vehicles, STEM education, Connected Tech, Smart Cities/Smart Homes, Cybersecurity IoT, Industrial IoT, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and the incubators, accelerators and training available for IoT startups.

Michigan Science Center President and CEO Dr. Tonya Matthews will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. She also is organizing a STEM education workshop for high school students with the help of Monica Wheat the founder of Digerati Girls.

“I’m honored to participate in IoT TechConnect,” Matthews said. “At the Michigan Science Center, we’re dedicated to becoming the STEM hub of Michigan and a premier institution for informal STEM learning. This event is a great opportunity to help prepare the local workforce for the technology of the future.”

More than 1,000 attendees are expected to hear from industry thought leaders during keynote and breakout sessions. At 4 pm, Kyyba Innovations will host an IoT Pitch Competition with the winner eligible for a $50,000 investment and support services, as well as mentorship from the organization’s extensive network.

Aimed at identifying the six top-level entrepreneurs and startups working on disruptive IoT technologies in broad-based industries, the IoT Pitch Competition will center on Autonomous and Connected Vehicles, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Connected Tech, Smart Cities/Smart Homes, Industry IoT and Cyber Security IoT. During the contest, the six finalists will compete before a judging panel of automotive executives, venture capitalists, angel investors and Silicon Valley technologists. They will have 10 minutes to pitch the judges and answer questions. The winner will be announced at 6 pm, followed by a VIP Reception co-sponsored by Comcast Business and Warner Norcross + Judd LLP.

The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center also is a major sponsor of this event.

“The manufacturing technologies are undergoing an unprecedented transformation with the current trend of ‘Industry 4.0,’ ” said Tel K. Ganesan, Managing Director, Kyyba Innovations, and President, TiE Detroit. “I’m looking forward to seeing what the participants have innovated that will help catalyze the future of Industry 4.0, in addition to other areas of application, highlighted in the IoT TechConnect conference.”

IoT TechConnect Co-Producer Mike Brennan, Editor & Publisher of MITechNews.Com, said he was excited to have Dr. Matthews  as Mistress of Ceremonies as well as Kyyba Innovations.

“We’re very excited to be working with Dr. Matthews, one of the true experts in Southeast Michigan for science, technology, engineering, and math,” said Brennan. “Plus we’re grateful to Kyyba Innovations CEO Tel Ganesan who has agreed to launch his IoT Pitch Competition at our show.”

The event is co-produced by CloudTech1, a Managed Service Provider in Rochester Hills. It’s CEO is Rick Beckers.

“As the owner of a business technology systems and support company I see the need for more, and better, STEM related training in order to fulfill the massive demand in our workplace,” Beckers said. “The unemployment rate in STEM related jobs is Zero percent and the demand is rising, and will continue to rise rapidly for many years, because of the Internet-of Things economy that is being deployed.  Dr. Matthews is a wonderful choice as our emcee and will be able to accurately explain the close ties between the training, the technology, and the rich career opportunities.”

Affiliate sponsors include: Automation Alley, Tech248, Mobile Technology Association of Michigan, TechTown, NextEnergy, Bamboo Detroit, Menlo Innovations, Inforum’s inGAGE, TiE Detroit, Kyyba Innovations, and the AR/VR Association.
